Two blog posts in one day? This morning feels like a long while ago! I just write to articulate what struck me as I was travelling this evening.
I went by bike from Wedding to Wilmersdorf. Took me about 25 mins each way. Easy cycle, not hard to find the direction. And it took me nearly directly past Bahnhof Zoologischer Garten, which I now see is not that far from me, even if it looks it on the map.
To leave Wedding and enter Moabit I cycled over a bridge over the S-Bahn. On the one side it was dark, the stars were out and the lights of the night city were beginning to take over. On the other, the fumes from the factories somehow shimmered in a most magnificent sunset. And the moon was right in the centre, one huge big crescent. It really was fantastic.
And on the way back home, now we are talking around 10.30pm, I cycled up the Straße des 17. Juni and through the newly reconstructed Charlottenburger Tor. It was huge, illuminated, magnificent. And as I was cycling through it there were four prostitutes (one I was close enough to had no eyebrows, they were painted on) and as I passed one was picked up and rode off. It made me sad. And think. And pray.
