tomato soup

Yesterday we put on a film event and had THOUSANDS of tomatoes left over. So I am making tomato soup. It smells good.

We also had quite a lot of empty big bottles of coke and apfelschorle and things left over: some only half full, so I poured them all into each other (of the relevant type, obvs) and then had 8 empty bottles. I put them in a plastic bag and took them home. You can get a pfand for them here - take them back to the supermarket and they give you money to say danke schön that you have recycled. Therefore quite a few homeless people go wandering around looking in bins for bottles they can get the deposit back for. And that was exactly what I did yesterday. I personally found it most amusing.

We showed a film on Bismarkstraße which is in the English quarter of Berlin (at least, where the English occupied it) ... interesting in itself because the building are very German but the whole feel of it is a bit more English than other areas - possibly because it is in a nice area (!!) but also somehow the way the trees are planted and the streets are kind of manicured has the air of Englishness about it.

The film was the Bourne Supremacy and we had a discussion afterwards about the effects of guilt on our identity. It was actually really interesting to hear what everyone had to say.

And so today I am trying to salvage my room's dignity - it is like living in a (clean) pigsty - eating all my tomato soup, and hopefully going to get to see the Kooks tonight. Tho the queues might be ridiculous. Who knows.

Life is so much better when the sun is shining.
